About Niels J. Linschoten, MD

Dr. Niels Linschoten is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with over 25 years of experience focusing on primary, as well as complex, knee and hip cases.

He was born in the Netherlands and raised in Curaҫao—an island in the Dutch Caribbean; later, he attended and graduated from medical school at Utrecht University. Dr. Linschoten then came to the United States where he trained in General Surgery and completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Finally, he completed a Joint Replacement and Arthritis Surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic.

Upon completion of training in 1992, Dr. Linschoten settled in Baton Rouge and began practicing at Ochsner. In the early 2000s, he brought his practice to Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic, where he has remained since.

Now a proud citizen of the United States of America, Dr. Linschoten devotes himself to helping patients with lower extremity joint pain in the Baton Rouge area, as well as across the state of Louisiana. He assists patients in gaining relief with conservative therapy and, when necessary, surgical treatment using advanced orthopedic equipment, such as the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology. Aiming to improve patient quality of life, Dr. Linschoten takes special interest in complex cases involving malalignment and infection that require joint revision surgery.
